Sisters of Saint Dominic Motherhouse Renovation
A Journey in Time…
115 Years:
A House of Prayer and Study
A personal
message to you
from Sister Arlene Antczak, OP, Prioress
Dear Friends,
Caldwell Dominican Sisters rejoice in an eight-century legacy of
Dominican mission. Since their founding in 1881 by Mother Mary Catharine
Muth to serve an immigrant population in Jersey City, New Jersey, they have
responded to the needs of each historic era.
As
contemplative women, we believe that God answers prayers through interaction
with people. Our lives express confidence that “the authentic Dominican
disappears into the people she serves and reappears in the people she
empowers.”
Whenever you meet us, in classrooms,
boardrooms, parishes and retreat centers, caring for every need from child
care to senior housing, you will find women energized by a lifestyle of
prayer and study for which the Caldwell Motherhouse stands as a source and
symbol.
This
center of the congregation’s life, the Motherhouse, faces challenges and
changes. For this reason we are seeking $3,000,000 in renovations to
restore the Motherhouse to a safe and viable living environment suitable for
Caldwell Dominicans, today and tomorrow.
Please consider making a
pledge to this project.
May God bless your generosity. You will be in the
hearts and prayers of all the Sisters.
