Caldwell Commission on Global Issues

We are all called, we are all challenged, and we are all sent to carry out the gospel message of peace. Close to thirty years ago, the Caldwell Dominicans formalized our work in the area of peace and justice. Reflecting on the justice work previously accomplished by our Founders and its continuation by our Sisters' commitment to justice, the new Commission on Global Issues (CGI) began its work. Each member of the CGI strives to raise the consciousness and awareness of our Sisters and Associates. We encourage them to assume an active role in bringing about a more peaceful world.  We support and sometimes join with the Caldwell Universe and Creation Committee to sponsor events and programs that encourage harmony for all life forms on our home planet.

In addition to fostering congregational corporate stances and engaging in on-going actions to promote justice according to the evolving needs of our world community, our three sub-committees focus on specific issues:

"Pray for Peace; Work for Justice"
Prayer is our priority - both private and communal. Prayer begins each monthly meeting and we gather for a monthly Holy Hour for Peace in our Motherhouse chapel.  We invite you to join us for our Peace Prayer every month.  We gather on the 2nd Wednesday in our Motherhouse Chapel in Caldwell from 7-8 pm.  For more information or for driving directions, contact us at dominicans@caldwellop.org
