Teachers give many things to their students but the most
significant and enduring is inspiration. The source of
this inspiration is the teacher’s own spirituality and
vision of her/his profession as a call from God.
During this gentle morning we will look at how we can
enliven our spiritual lives by connecting to the wisdom
of the scriptures and the words of the sacred teachers
who have gone before us. Prayer, ritual, reflection and
discussion will help us prepare for the wonderful
opportunities that each new school year presents.

Teachers have a great challenge to call forth the best
in each of their students. So many students have grown
old before their time; they seem jaded. Today, we will
take time to renew our motivation and spirit so we can
be more empowered to inspire our students to see anew.

WHEN WE EAT THIS
BREAD:
EUCHARIST IN 1CORINTHIANS 10-11
Tuesdays, September 14 & September 21
Fee: $40. covers both weeks
5:00pm -7:30pm Supper will be served at 5 pm
followed by the Presentation.
In 1Corinthians 10-11, Paul leaves the only description
of the Christian Eucharist that has survived from the
first century. The manner in which the Corinthians
celebrate the Lord’s Supper has made it a counter-sign,
negating the proclamation of the Lord’s death. No longer
is the Eucharistic celebration the manifestation of the
church’s unity, but of its division. It is this issue
that Paul addresses in his letter. After a full
discussion of Paul’s treatment of the meaning of the
Lord’s Supper, we will also note how his theology of the
Eucharist continued to influence later Christian
theologians and its value for us today, “whenever we eat
this bread and drink this cup.”
The two weeks are part of a whole. Need to be present
for both sessions.

IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
FOR YOU?
Tuesday, September 28
7:00 pm - 9:00pm
No Fee
7:00pm coffee and… followed by Presentation
Spiritual Direction, or Spiritual Guidance as it is
sometimes called, is the ministry of one person
accompanying another in the process of growing in one’s
relationship with God. Carried out in a one-on-one
trusting relationship, the trained spiritual director
listens attentively and assists the individual in
recognizing and responding to God’s Presence within the
joys and sorrows of life. If you seek a more meaningful
life and a deeper relationship with God, spiritual
direction may be beneficial for you to explore. Join us
for an evening of prayer, a presentation to address your
questions, and a short time with a spiritual guide to
get an idea of the process. No commitments are required,
simply come if you would like to learn more about this
spiritual tradition.

HAVE YOU ASKED FOR THE GIFTS OF
FAITH, LATELY?
Tuesday, December 7
5:00pm – 7:30pm
Fee$25.
5:00pm- Supper ~ 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Presentation
So often we find ourselves struggling with life’s events
and praying to TRUST that God will carry us through to
peaceful results. We pray and we doubt. We pray and get
strong, then slip into doubt again. So we pray again.
But this time we may even feel a residue of guilt for
NOT trusting God in the first place! All so very
stressful. So what’s the remedy? The solution is to
redefine faith from a different point of view. What is
faith and how can we really live from the gifts of
faith? These are the questions we will examine and more.
Prepare to receive!
